Having served for many years as ERT’s correspondent in New York, he is now based in Athens, where he continues to report on international affairs and anchor news programming, including the daily current affairs show UPDATE on ERT NEWS. Throughout his career, Papathanasiou has reported extensively on global crises, armed conflicts, and geopolitical developments. His coverage spans major international flashpoints, including the wars in Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as conflict zones in the Middle East and Crimea.
