Professor Eric Alter - @eralter_eric- is the Dean of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a Non-resident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council Middle East programs. He is a Professor of International Law and Diplomacy and an attorney-at-law admitted to the Paris Bar.
A former United Nations civil servant, he has served as a senior consultant and team leader for various international organizations, including the WTO, World Bank, IFC, UNDP, UNEP, and FAO. He has been seconded abroad and provided advisory support to embassies, notably in Aden, Beirut, and Cairo.
As an “Agrégé des Facultés françaises de Droit,” Professor Alter earned his PhD from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, is an alumnus of the Institute of Higher International Studies at Paris II Panthéon-Assas, and holds an LLM in Entertainment and Media Law from Southwestern Law School. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor) and a Senior Research Fellow at Georgetown University Law Center.
He is listed as an official arbitrator with GICAM (Cameroon) and previously served as Professor of the Law of the Sea at Indemer (Paris-Monaco).
