Arnstein Aassve is Full Professor of Demography at Bocconi University, Milan, in the Department of Social and Political Science. With over 25 years of research experience, he is one of Europe's leading scholars on population dynamics, the transition to adulthood, fertility, and intergenerational inequality. He has pioneered the study of how welfare states shape young people's pathways into adulthood across Europe and beyond, and his work has been published in leading scientific journals including Science, PNAS, and Population and Development Review. Professor Aassve has been awarded two prestigious European Research Council grants and currently coordinates the Horizon Europe project FutuRes on resilience and population ageing. He serves as Chief Technical Consultant to the UNFPA Reproductive Choice Survey, spanning more than 70 countries, and chairs the Scientific Board of the Population Europe Policy Lab. He collaborates with the European Commission's Joint Research Centre and Commissioner Glenn Micallef on the Strategy for Intergenerational Fairness. His research sits at the intersection of demography, computational social science, and public policy, with direct relevance to ageing societies and intergenerational equity worldwide.
