Rolf is Deputy Director General of DG Universal and Diversified Institutions in the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) of the European Central Bank, a position that he has held since 2020. His previous roles in the SSM were Deputy Director General of DG Microprudential Supervision II (2014-2018), and Deputy Director General of DG Microprudential Supervision I (2018-2020). Prior to joining the ECB, Rolf served as Area Head (2012-2014) and Deputy Area Head (2009-2012) in the Bundesbank Regional Office Frankfurt, where his responsibilities included supervising large Frankfurt-based credit institutions such as Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank and DZ Bank. Rolf started his career at the Deutsche Bundesbank in 1986. After holding positions in various business areas, in 1997, he became a Bank Supervisor in the Bundesbank Regional Office Frankfurt. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the Bundesbank University of Applied Science in Hachenburg.
