Neil Sweeney Biography Neil is an experienced senior executive who has led teams in both the public and private sectors in Canada over his 30-year career. Currently, Neil is the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Westerkirk Capital Inc., a family-owned firm headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia as well as one of its holdings, De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited. In these roles Neil is accountable for the corporate affairs activities of all Westerkirk companies including internal and external communications, government relations, and in the case of De Havilland Canada additionally, community relations and Indigenous relations. Prior to this role, Neil was the Vice-President of Stakeholder Relations for TC Energy for Canada. This position was accountable for the government relations, landowner, Indigenous and environmental functions of the company and included responsibility for the Corporate Affairs requirements of the Coastal Gaslink Project in northern British Columbia. Previously, Neil served for six years as Deputy Minister of Corporate Policy and Intergovernmental Relations as well as Government Communications and Public Engagement for the Province of British Columbia. In this role, Neil oversaw the development and implementation of significant government initiatives, providing advice and guidance to the Premier, Cabinet Ministers and senior members of the provincial bureaucracy. Neil has also served in political roles in both the federal and provincial governments, as Deputy Chief of Staff to Premier Gordon Campbell in British Columbia as well as Director of Legislative Affairs to Finance Minister Paul Martin. Neil is married to Tanis. They have three children and live in Victoria, B.C.
