Traicho Traikov was born on April 19, 1970, in Sofia. He graduated from the First English Language School in the capital and, in 1994, from the University of National and World Economy with a degree in International Economic Relations. He specialized in the fields of control, analysis, and management in Germany and Austria. He has over 30 years of professional and managerial experience in both the public and private sectors. His professional path began in the consulting and energy sectors. He worked for the international companies CET and Roland Berger, and later held managerial positions at EVN Bulgaria, where he participated in processes of integration, restructuring, and improving the efficiency of energy companies in Bulgaria and the region. From 2009 to 2012, he served as Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism. His professional career then continued in local government—first as a municipal councilor, and later as a two‑time elected mayor of Sofia’s Sredets district, in 2019 and 2023. He was appointed Minister of Energy in the caretaker government headed by Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov on February 19, 2026.
