Marios Kassinos

Managing Partner, Athens Office

Egon Zehnder, Greece

Building deep, meaningful connections with people and translating leadership potential into impact at scale have been a defining source of energy for Marios. As a Leadership Advisory Partner at Egon Zehnder, he is committed to identifying and developing a new generation of leaders aspiring to create a braver new world. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in professional advisory services firms and over 5 years in senior leadership roles within the banking sector, his work focuses on helping leaders navigate periods of profound transition – shifts in strategy, culture, governance, and personal leadership identity – while building organizations fit for an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. Born and raised in Cyprus, Marios pursued his academic studies in the United States after which he joined PwC’s Financial Advisory Services Practice in Chicago, where he worked on large-scale transactions across the US. He later transferred to Cyprus, where he stayed until the end of 2002, working on several advisory assignments for banks, large corporates, and the Cyprus Government. In 2003, he moved to Greece, joining EY’s Transaction Advisory Services Practice. Progressing quickly through the ranks, in 2007, he was promoted to Partner. While at EY, he worked on over 200 transactions in Greece and Southeast Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Cyprus) and held several senior leadership roles, including the positions of Divestment Advisory Services Leader and Executives Learning & Development Leader for Central and Southeast Europe (CSE). During this time, he was also part of the EMEIA Training Team and spent over 10 years facilitating in-house training courses for EY executives across Europe. After 15 years in the advisory profession, Marios made a deliberate career shift and, in 2014, he joined Piraeus Bank, where he spent nearly four years, first as Senior Director at the Corporate and Investment Banking Unit and later as Assistant General Manager reporting directly to the CEO. While at Piraeus Bank, he led the development of new business initiatives for the Corporate Banking business as well as the formulation and implementation of strategies concerning some of the bank's largest debt and equity exposures. In 2018, he transitioned into a high‑paced entrepreneurial environment, joining an ambitious start-up project to establish Greece’s premier digital bank, initially as Head of Corporate Banking and, subsequently as Deputy CEO, overseeing the Bank’s Corporate Banking, Retail Banking and Digital Banking units. At the beginning of 2020, Marios was invited to join Egon Zehnder, which he did, viewing the firm as the ideal platform to bring together his experience across advisory services and executive leadership, while fulfilling a clear sense of purpose: supporting leaders through moments of transition and helping shape organizations fit for the future. An active member of EZ’s Global Financial Services, Professional Services, and Health Practice Groups, he has been involved in Executive Searches, Board Searches, CEO / C-Suite Successions, and Leadership Development work, including Executive Assessments, Development Planning, Accelerated Integration Programs, Team Effectiveness Workshops, Culture Transformation Journeys, and Transition Coaching. Since 2025, he has been leading Egon Zehnder’s Office in Athens. Outside of work, Marios seeks opportunities to travel the world and embrace meaningful, life‑changing experiences. He is also a wine enthusiast and has a passion for photography.
