Yiannis Zampoukis was born in Alexandroupolis, the son of Konstantinos and Christina. He graduated from the Law School of Komotini in 1996 and is a lawyer admitted to practice before the Supreme Court and the Council of State. As of today, he serves as Mayor of Alexandroupolis, having been re-elected in October 2023. His initial election took place in June 2019, leading the municipal party “Municipality for All – First You,” marking his first involvement in political office. Before entering public service, he built a distinguished legal career spanning more than twenty years, practicing actively in Alexandroupolis and across Greece. He holds postgraduate qualifications in Medical Mediation and a Master’s degree (MSc) in Bioethics, both from the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). He is an accredited mediator registered with the Ministry of Justice (ADR Hellenic Center) and has served as a trainer for candidate mediators. He is also the founder and president of INKADA (Alexandroupolis Institute for Mediator Training), operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Justice. In addition, he is a certified Data Protection Officer (GDPR) accredited by TÜV Hellas. His institutional contributions include participation in the Ministry of Justice’s coordinating committee for the promotion of mediation (Ministerial Decision 172/15-1-2014, Government Gazette 79/2014), as well as serving as Chairman of the Prefectural Committee for the Settlement of Commercial Leases (Law 4013/2011) from 2012 to 2018. From March 2014 to 2019, he served as President of the Alexandroupolis Bar Association. His guiding principle is: “We design with a focus on people.”
