Ioannis Thanos is Associate Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), specializing in Strategic Management, Leadership, and the intersection between education and the evolving demands of the labour market. Prior to joining AUEB, he held academic positions in the UK, including Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management and PhD Director at Lancaster University Management School, as well as Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He has taught across undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and executive education programmes in leading institutions across Europe and has received multiple teaching awards at Lancaster University, University of Glasgow, AUEB. Alongside his academic role, he collaborates with senior executive teams on strengthening strategic thinking, shaping organizational strategy, and developing leadership capabilities in complex and changing environments. Through his work with organizations, he actively bridges academic knowledge with real-world business challenges. His research has appeared in leading international journals such as the Journal of World Business, British Journal of Management, and Long Range Planning. He has received multiple distinctions for his research (e.g., best paper award Journal of Strategy and Management, best paper award Strategic Management Society conference).
