George Cassar

Mr. George Cassar serves as the Data Marke Technical Leader for IBM Technology, overseeing the regional technical strategy for Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Israel. A results-driven leader with more than 20 years of experience in the IT and banking sectors, he specializes in Data & AI platforms, hybrid cloud architectures, and enterprise-grade solutions.

George began his career as a software engineer, moving into leadership at Alpha Bank where he spent over a decade. As Head of Core Banking Systems, he was responsible for the strategic direction of the bank’s IT systems, delivering high-availability solutions and leading large-scale virtualization projects. At IBM, he has progressed through key management roles, including Technical Leader for Greece and Cyprus, where he led specialized teams to drive the adoption of AI and hybrid cloud growth offerings.

George holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Piraeus and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham. Beyond his corporate leadership, he has contributed to economic discourse through published research on the hidden economy in Greece. As a speaker and advisor, he focuses on empowering enterprise clients to unlock measurable value from their data while maintaining the highest standards of governance and security.
