Stelios Stylianidis Emeritus Professor of Social Psychiatry, Psychoanalyst, PhD Stelios Stylianidis is an Emeritus Professor of Social Psychiatry at Panteion University, Athens. He is the founder in 1988 of the Non-Governmental Organization Association for Regional Development and Mental Health (EPAPSY) and served as its Scientific Director from 1989 to 2015. Since 2016 till today, he has continued to serve as the organization's Scientific Consultant and Honorary President, as well as the former vice-president of the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WAPR).Actually EPAPSY is the biggest NGO provider of community mental health care in Greece. Dr. Stylianidis is a psychoanalyst and group analyst, a member of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), the Hellenic Society of Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy, and the Société Française de Psychothérapie Psychanalytique de Groupe (SFPPG). He had previously worked as the Greek counterpart of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Mental Health (2009–2014), Chief Executive Officer of the Children's Psychiatric Hospital of Attica (2000–2004), WHO Consultant ("Nations for Mental Health" Program), and Founder and Director of the Community Mental Health Center in Chalkida (1989–1997). Dr. Stylianidis has worked in France, Italy, and Greece in various capacities (clinical, research, and consultation). He is a Greek pioneer in the field of psychiatric reform and deinstitutionalization, integrating primary health care and psychiatric services through networking optimization. Dr. Stylianidis has also made significant contributions to the user and caregiver movements, developing initiatives in mental health democracy, both on a state and international level, where he has organized and implemented interventions primarily on the institutional level involving empowerment, the application of the recovery model, and human rights in mental health. He has extensive experience supervising and training professionals in mental health services, organizations, hospitals, and businesses. For the past four years, he has provided psychoanalytic supervision to the project team of EPAPSY's Program for Psychosocial Intervention for Refugees, which is carried out on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). He has also delivered several conference presentations on the topic of mental health care for refugees and migrants. Dr. Stylianidis has authored or contributed to over 170 scientific publications, both national and international, and has written or edited seven books, five in Greek, one in French, and one in English.
