Athanasios Kosmopoulos attended the Corps Officers Academy (SSAS), from which he graduated as a military lawyer, with the rank of second lieutenant and class leader of the 1987 class. He specialized in International Law. He studied at the Academy of Computer Programmers of the Armed Forces. He taught as a lecturer at the Department of Information and Communication Systems of the University of the Aegean in Karlovasi, Samos. He holds an LL.M in European Law and Politics from the Uninettuno University in Rome. He is a PhD candidate in the Department of International Relations at Panteion University, focusing on Hybrid threats. He is a Research Associate with the Center for Security Studies (ΚΕΜΕΑ). He is appointed as the Head of the Organization and Support Unit at the Managing Authority for the Digital Transformation Program. In May 2018, he was appointed as Data Protection Officer (DPO) of the Ministry of Digital Governance. Visiting lecturer at the Hellenic National Defense College, the Hellenic National Security Academy, the National Intelligence Service, and other institutions in Greece and abroad. He is the president of the Hellenic Interministerial DPOs Committee. He is the country's National Representative at the European Cybersecurity Competence Center (ECCC). He is the Operations Coordination Officer of the Hybrid Threats Analysis Observatory
