He is a graduate of the School of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in neurosurgery. He holds a PhD from the same Medical School and a postgraduate degree in Health Unit Management. In June 2023, he was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Health. From 2020 to 2023, he served as Secretary General for Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health and as Coordinator of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program, “Operation Freedom” (“Epicheirisi Eleftheria”). He has also served as President of the National Central Health Procurement Authority, member of the Government Policy Coordination and Monitoring Committee for the management of the COVID-19 pandemic, President of the Governing Committee of the Healthcare Professionals Insurance Sector (former TSAU – Healthcare Professionals Insurance and Pension Fund), and Vice President of the Board of Directors of ETAA (Unified Fund for the Self-Employed). As a neurosurgeon, he worked in hospitals in the United Kingdom, at Evangelismos General Hospital, and as Senior Registrar (Consultant Grade A) in the Neurosurgery Department of Agia Sofia Children's Hospital.
