Radu Butum is a Romanian career diplomat with 20 years of national and international public service experience, currently heading the European Union Office in Erbil. All-round experience in bilateral diplomacy (Germany, Iraq), multilateral diplomacy (UNESCO and OECD in Paris and Bucharest), EU affairs (at the Ministry of European Affairs and in Brussels during the Romanian Council Presidency), and EU policy (in particular energy, the EU internal market, sustainable development). Team leadership experience in EU and national organisations, executive public management and good governance training at the Hertie School of Governance and the Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg in Germany. Fluent in Romanian, English, French and German. Basic conversational in Arabic and Swedish.
