Dr. Dimitrios Giakoumis is the Chief Research Officer and Co-Founder of OZZIE Robotics, a CERTH spin-off that develops mobile robots for diverse environments and applications. Alongside, he is a Principal Researcher in Service Robotics at CERTH. In the last twenty years, he has been involved in numerous research and development activities, being among others the Coordinator of large EC-funded projects in AI, Data and Robotics technologies;such as the Horizon Europe -funded RobetArme, PLIADES and MANiBOT research projects. With OZZIE Robotics, he is working since 2020 on the transformation of advanced research outcomes into tangible, real robot systems that bring added value in the real practice of diverse, dynamic and even harsh, indoor and outdoor environments.
