Memi Tsekoura has more than 30 years of professional experience in the healthcare sector. She began her social contribution through her involvement with the Greek Association for the Support of Patients with Osteoporosis, initially serving as a Member of the Board of Directors. Since 2002, she has served as President of the “Butterfly” Bone Health Society. She possesses extensive expertise in patient management and support for individuals living with chronic musculoskeletal conditions and has successfully cultivated strong collaboration between the scientific community and patient organizations through a broad range of initiatives and programs implemented by the Association. In addition, she has held key leadership positions within social organizations at both the primary and secondary levels of local government. Under her leadership, the “Butterfly” Bone Health Society became an official member of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and the Greek Rare Diseases Association. The Association has also received international recognition, earning the highest global distinction on two occasions—ranking first among organizations from 285 countries for its initiatives—as well as a bronze award for its nationwide patient support services. Furthermore, under her guidance, numerous scientific and epidemiological studies have been conducted, including the development of Greece’s national epidemiological map for osteoporosis. The Association has also successfully participated in EU-funded programs and contributed to international scientific publications.
