Vered Caplan is a pioneering biotechnology entrepreneur and executive with more than 20 years of experience in advanced therapies, regenerative medicine, and global healthcare innovation. She has served as Chairperson and CEO of multiple biotechnology and life sciences companies focused on cell and gene therapy, biomedical engineering, regenerative medicine, and advanced biomanufacturing technologies. Ms. Caplan has played a significant role in advancing the life sciences ecosystem in Israel and internationally, helping bridge scientific innovation, engineering, and clinical implementation. Earlier in her career, she was involved in the development and growth of Masthercell, one of the pioneering cell therapy manufacturing companies, which was later acquired in a transaction valued at more than $300 million, helping establish the foundation for today’s global cell and gene therapy manufacturing industry. Over the last few years, Ms. Caplan has dedicated substantial efforts to developing the biotechnology sector in Greece, supporting the establishment of advanced biotechnology infrastructure, strategic international collaborations, and the attraction of more than $30 million in foreign funding and investment initiatives for Greek biotechnology companies and projects. Her work has focused on positioning Greece as a strategic European hub for advanced therapies, biomanufacturing, and AI-driven biotechnology innovation. Ms. Caplan holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and Tel Aviv University, with specialization in medical technologies, signal processing, and business development.
