Marius Cara is the Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Office in Romania, a role in which he represents the EIB Group at institutional level and in its relations with EIB financing beneficiaries. Previously, he served as Head of the Investor Relations Department at the European Commission (2021–2024), where he coordinated investor outreach activities in the context of the NextGenerationEU funding programme. Marius joined the EIB in 2006 as an advisor to the Audit Committee, and since 2011 he has worked within the Capital Markets Department as Deputy Head of the Investor Relations and Sustainable Funding Division. In this capacity, he managed relationships with rating agencies and credit analysts and was involved in presenting the EIB’s strategy at investors' conferences and events, including promoting EIB’s green and sustainable bonds (Climate Awareness Bonds and Sustainability Awareness Bonds). Marius Cara began his career as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers (1996–2001), after which he worked as an internal auditor within the United Nations system. He is a graduate of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, holds the ACCA qualification, and is a member of the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania (CAFR) and the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR). Marius is fluent in English and French and is a native Romanian speaker.
