General Dimitrios Choupis is the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (appointed January 2024). A distinguished military leader with 24+ years of service, he commands expertise across Signals, Electronic Warfare, Intelligence, and Cybersecurity operations. His academic credentials include a PhD with distinction in Information Dissemination Systems from the National Technical University of Athens, with a specialization in Cryptosecurity and Chaotic Cryptology. He holds the title of Honorary Doctor of the Department of Business Administration of the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and has published extensively on Cyber Warfare Strategy, Cryptosecurity, and UAS operations in international journals and conferences. General Choupis has served in senior NATO roles, including three years with the International Military Staff of the Hellenic Military Delegation in NATO (Brussels, 2006-2009) as Allied Communications Planning Staff Officer for ISAF, and attendance at the NATO Defense College. He was recently conferred the rank of Commander of the Legion of Honour by France and the NATO Defense College's "Distinguished Ancien" award for his contribution to the Alliance. Fluent in English and French, he brings strategic insight and operational expertise to contemporary Cybersecurity challenges.
