Yiannis Papadatos is Professor of Prehistoric Archaelogy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Department of History and Archaeology. He received his bachelor on Archaeology and History of Art from the NKUA and his PhD from the University of Sheffield. He has also worked as Postodoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield, as contract archaeologist for the Greek Archaeological Service, and as adjunct lecturer at the Hellenic Open University. He is directing research projects and conducts archaeological excavations and field work in Crete and Attica (Marathon). He has published 2 monographs, 3 edited volumes and over 50 papers in international journals, edited volumes and conference proceedings. He has also organized 6 international conferences and has participated in more than 70 conferences, workshops and symposia. His research interests include Early Cycladic Culture, Minoan Crete, Archaeology of Death, Mountain Archaeology, Prehistoric Technology, and the application of scientific methods and digital techniques in archaeology. He has served as Director of the Sector of Archaeology and History of Art of the NKUA, of he currently is director of the Labortory of Archaeology of the NKUA, and of the Master's program “MSc in Archaeological Science”.
