Dimitris Markopoulos currently serves as Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, with responsibility for tax policy, a post he has held since June 2026. He has also been a Member of Parliament with New Democracy since 2019. He comes from a journalism background, with many years of experience covering economic, business and political affairs. He has worked with Proto Thema, Makedonia and Parapolitika, among other print, broadcast and digital media, holding senior editorial and management positions. In 2010, he received the Botsis Foundation Award for Economic Journalism. He graduated from the School of Humanities at the Hellenic Open University and holds a diploma in Mass Media and Journalism. He has served on major parliamentary committees and international delegations, with a focus on the economy, development and Greece’s institutional representation.
