Margarita Niki Assimakopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She heads the Group of Building Environmental Studies and directs its certified Laboratory for Indoor Environmental Quality Measurements. Her research covers energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality in buildings, building management technologies and, since 2016, innovative construction materials. Her recent work also addresses urban heat islands, thermal comfort and the climate resilience of cities. She has taken part in more than 25 European and national research projects. She is the author of over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 70 peer-reviewed conference papers, and has written numerous technical reports. Her work has been cited more than 4,600 times (h-index 35, Google Scholar). She is also active in science communication, sharing research results with stakeholders, policymakers and the public.
