Johan Borgstam was appointed Ambassador of Sweden to the Hellenic Republic in September 2021.
He has represented his country as Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Ethiopia (2017-2021), Ambassador of Sweden to Kenya and Permanent Representative of Sweden to UNEP and UNHABITAT (2012-2017) and Ambassador of Sweden to the Democratic Republic of Congo (2008-2011).
During his diplomatic service, he has held several positions at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs including the positions of Director-General for International Development Cooperation and Chief of Staff to the Minister for International Development Cooperation.
Before joining the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1996 he was employed at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Ambassador Borgstam holds an MSc in International Business Administration and Economics from the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and an MA in European Economic Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.
