Shahin Vallée is a Senior Fellow at DGAP (German Council on Foreign Relations). Until June 2018, he was a Senior Economist for Soros Fund Management and personal advisor to George Soros, where he worked on a wide range of political and economic issues, advised the Fund CIO on strategic global macro investments and assisted the founders and his foundation on international political developments. Prior to this role, he was the economic advisor to Emmanuel Macron at the French Economy Ministry where he worked specifically on European economic affairs. Between 2012 and 2014, he was the economic advisor to the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy. As such, since 2012 he has been at the heart of European economic policy discussions, in particular on issues related to the euro area and international policy coordination (IMF, G20). Prior to that, he worked both as a Visiting Fellow at Bruegel and as an economist for a global investment bank in London leading a team of economist and investment strategists that provided macroeconomic analysis and investment recommendations across asset classes. Shahin has broad experience of working and living across the globe, strong interpersonal and communication skills and started his career working for social investment vehicles and entrepreneurship in developing countries.

He holds a Masters from Columbia University in New York, and a Public Affairs Degree from Sciences Po in Paris and an undergraduate econometrics degree from La Sorbonne and is currently completing a PhD in Political Economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is fluent in French and English and has a conversational level in Portuguese and can read spanish.
