Paolo Fioretti is the Deputy Head of Financial Sector and Market Analysis division at the ESM within the Chief Economist department. He is responsible for financial sectors analysis and monitoring of euro area banking sector. He is also leading the team in charge to develop and implement the banks’ repayment capacity methodology to assess the fiscal neutrality of the common backstop facility. After having held the role of ESM country team coordinator for Ireland and Cyprus, Mr Fioretti is currently covering the same role for Greece.
Prior to this, Mr Fioretti worked at Unicredit, Fitch Ratings as Director in the EMEA Financial Institutions team and in the European Investment Bank. Mr Fioretti graduated in Economics and Social Science at Bocconi University. He obtained a M.Sc. in Banking and Finance from the CUOA Business School and the University of Venice.
