Isidoros Ntogiakos

General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Greece

He was born in Athens in 1956.
He is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens and entered the judiciary in 1983. 
For nine consecutive years (1992-2001) he served at the Department of Penal Prosecution, the most crucial Department of the Athen’s Public Prosecutor's Office until today. Moreover, as Prosecutor at the First Instance Court, he served, from 1996 to 2001, as supervising Prosecutor of the newly established Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE) with competence throughout Greece. 
In 2005 he was promoted to Deputy Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal and in 2013 to Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal. 
In 2018 he was promoted to Vice Prosecutor General of the Supreme Court. As from 1st July 2022 he is appointed General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Greece.
During his prosecutorial career he handled many important cases, such as the case of the political party “Golden Dawn”, which is the flagship of his career. In this case he supervised the main investigation and upon its completion he drafted and submitted a multi – page reasoned proposal to the Judicial Council of the Court of Appeal of Athens, based on which 18 Members of Parliament of the Golden Dawn party and 52 other defendants, party members and followers were referred to trial and condemned to many years of incarceration and imprisonment.
This was the first time, not only in the Greek judicial annals but also worldwide that a parliamentary party was declared a criminal organization based on a prosecutor’s proposal. 
He also served as President of the Legislative Committee set up at the Ministry of Justice and drafted Law 3500/2005 on dealing with domestic violence.
On 29-11-2014 his colleagues proved their trust in him by electing him as Head of the Prosecution Office at the Court of Appeal of Athens, and by reelecting him on 17-9-2016.
He participated as a Lecturer in many seminars. It is worth mentioning his participation with a presentation entitled "Prosecutors and Vice Prosecutors of the Supreme Court of Greece as fighters during the National Revolution of 1821”, within the framework of a conference titled "Greek Justice from the Revolution of 1821 to present day, important milestones and prospects", which was organized on the 8th and 9th of September 2021 in Athens, under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic and with the support of the "Greece 2021" Committee.
Furthermore, his participation as a Rapporteur in a seminar on Law 4855/2021, organized by the Institute of European and International Criminal Law , held at the Ceremony Hall of the Athens Court of Appeal, on 15th and 16th December 2021, is also considered very important. His presentation addressed to Judges, Prosecutors and Lawyers concerned the systematic and in-depth amendments brought by Law 4855/2021 in the current Code of Criminal Procedure. 
He is married and father of two children.
