Agathi –Rosa Vrettou, MD, is a consultant Cardiologist at Attikon University Hospital since January 2012, with a subspecialty in Echocardiography and Cardiovascular MR. She currently runs the Myocarditis outpatient clinic. Dr Vrettou received her medical degree from the Athens University- School of Medicine in 1999 and competed her fellowship in Cardiology at Attikon University hospital. She received further subspecialty training in Cardiac Imaging at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA in 2011 under a scholarship from the Greek Society of Cardiology. She was awarded a PhD title from the Athens University - Faculty of Medicine in 2013 having conducted research on the topic of Cardiac preconditioning and postconditioning in Acute Myocardial Infarction. Dr Vrettou received a Master Degree from LSE in Heath Economics, Outcomes and Management in 2021. She was awarded a scholarship from the European Society of Cardiology for the LSE Master programme. She has been widely published in peer –reviewed scientific journals.

Dr Vrettou has been a member of PASOK since 1993 and has been elected in several party positions including the position of international secretary of PASOK Youth. In 2000 she was elected as a vice president of the youth Organization of the PES. She was a fellow of the Marshall Memorial Fellowship programme in 2005. In 2007 she served as a Member of the Greek Parliament, having ran in 2004 general election as a candidate at PASOK national list. She is currently the deputy secretary of the Healthcare working group of PASOK, where she works actively on the PASOK’s political agenda for the reform of the public healthcare system.

Dr Vrettou is married and has one son.

Her origin is from the island of Lefkada.
