Dimitris Malliaropulos is chief economist and director of economic analysis and research at the Bank of Greece, and professor of finance at the University of Piraeus. He is also a member of the Economic Policy Committee (OECD), the Economic Development Review Committee (OECD) and the International Relations Committee (EU/Eurosystem). He holds a PhD in economics from the Free University Berlin and has taught economics and finance at Brunel University, London Metropolitan University and Free University Berlin.

He has worked in the past as an economist at the Deutsche Bundesbank, National Bank of Greece and Eurobank and as a quantitative consultant at Invesco. He has also served for more than ten years as a member and Chair of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Banking Federation.

His academic research focuses on asset pricing, banking, financial intermediation, empirical finance and applied macro and has been published in top academic journals such as Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Business, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Services Research as well as in numerous applied industry journals.
