Peter Pogačar

Peter Pogačar was born in Ljubljana in 1973. He holds a university degree in law and has passed the state bar examination. Peter began his professional career at the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs (MDDSZ) where he worked as an adviser to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (undersecretary) at MDDSZ, where his responsibilities included the development of supplementary pension insurance within the first major pension reform.

In 2004 he became the director of the Pension Insurance Department, where he was responsible for the pension funds, managed by Capital Fund. From 2009 to 2015, Peter was Director-General of the Directorate for Employment Relationships and Employment Rights at the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. During this mandate he was responsible and successfully concluded the pension and labour market reforms, that were implemented in 2013. In the international field, he was a key partner of the OECD and the European Commission in the dialogue concerning the proposed orientations and the monitoring of adopted measures in view of the recommendations from the Ministry. 

In 2015 the Government of the Republic of Slovenia appointed Peter Pogačar a state secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, where he was responsible for the regulation of labour market and social security systems in Slovenia.

In September 2019, the Government appointed him as a Director General of Directorate for public sector, where he is responsible for the modernization of public sector in Slovenia. 

He regularly lectures or participates in round tables at numerous international and national conferences focusing on the transformation of civil service and public sector and labour market and has co-authored several books and articles on the subject.
