Vaggelis Avgoulas maintains a law firm.  In November 2021, he became the first disabled lawyer in history to be elected to the new Board of Directors of the Athens Bar Association. He was born blind and is a Regular Representative in Greece of the International Organizatio n VIEWS for young people with visual impairment. He is the Accessibility Consultant of ReGeneration, the largest nationwide education and employment program. For 12 years he was an elected Councilman of Ilion, while he served as Deputy Mayor of Social Poli cy, Lifelong Learning, Transparency and eGovernment, as the youngest and the only disabled person in this position nationwide. He is an Accessibility Consultant for the Panhellenic Hoteliers Federation, a member of the Health Committee of KEDE and for 10 years he has been an Associate Member of the Accessibility Committee of Disabled Students of UOA, while serving the Panhellenic Association of the Blind. He was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Seaman’s Home” (Oikos Naftou) Public Law E ntity, a body responsible for the insurance and social benefits of active and retired seafarers and their families. In 2015 he worked as a Scientific Associate of the Minister of Health and the Minister of Interior & Administrative Reform. In 2018 he found ed NPO "Me Alla Matia", with the main goal of providing social welfare services, counseling and support to socially vulnerable groups, accessibility counseling and accessible social information through meallamatia.gr.
