Alexandros Morellas

Health Program Manager

Onassis Foundation, Greece

Alexandros Morellas studied Sociology and holds an M.Sc. in "Health Management and Economics". He worked as a journalist for more than two decades. During these years, he not only had the opportunity to work for some of the biggest newspapers, magazines, and TV channels in Greece, but he was also highly positioned in responsibility and strategic creativity. After many years of career in Communication, Media, and Journalism, in 2013, he had the opportunity to work as a Press Officer at the Onassis Foundation. However, in 2019, on the occasion of the upcoming construction of the Onassis National Transplant Center and the National Initiative in Organ Donation, which the Onassis Foundation has undertaken, he made a new start in his career, becoming the Health Program Manager of the Onassis Foundation.

Four years of intensive training in the field of Organ Donation and Transplantation, culminating with his participation in the “25th Transplant Procurement Management Advanced International Training Course” in Barcelona, along with a postgraduate degree in Health Economics & Management, fully skilled him to take on an active role in the Onassis Foundation's efforts to change the landscape of transplants in Greece. The subject of his master's thesis being social marketing, and especially the communication and promotion of organ donation, gave him the opportunity to specialize in the field of social marketing in Health. Currently, he is responsible for planning and implementing programs and initiatives related to Organ Donation, on behalf of the Onassis Foundation, as well as other awareness initiatives in Medical Science.
