Valia Fragkou is the Executive Director of the recently founded Athina I. Martinou Foundation. Prior her current role, she was a Philanthropy Advisor who worked with funders – charitable foundations, companies (CSR) and individual donors – for the attainment of their philanthropic goals through strategic giving. Her projects included the creation of strategy plans, the design of philanthropic structures, the evaluation of grant requests/proposals as well as the design and implementation of social initiatives. Prior to her role as a philanthropy advisor, she spearheaded the creation of a charitable foundation and remained the Senior Advisor to the BoD for 8 years. During her tenure, she developed 5-year and yearly strategy plans; evaluated requests for grant and other considerations; implemented grants including new programs; and coordinated collaborations with other foundations and various constituents (co-funding projects and complementary grants). She holds a Bachelor in Business Administration, an MBA in Entrepreneurship and a Master of Science in the field of Nonprofit Management.
