Nikos Salakas is Partner - Head of the Banking & Finance Practice of Koutalidis Law Firm and Member of the Executive Committee.  He has more than 24 years of transactional experience in Banking, Finance & Restructuring, Capital Markets and Banking M&A.  He is particularly active in structured financing and has done pioneering work in acquisition financing and regulatory capital transactions.  Highlights of his career include participation in the legal team which acted for the Steering Committee of Private Creditors of Greece on the EUR206bn debt restructuring of the Hellenic Republic (PSI), and in the legislative committee for the preparation of the law on the Hellenic Asset Protection Scheme (Hercules Program). Nikos served for more than three years (2019 – 2022) as Chief Legal and Governance Officer and Member of the Executive Committee of Alpha Bank, leading the legal aspects of the transformation of the Bank through the hive down of its banking sector, the spin-off of its servicing business and the NPE deleveraging of its balance sheet.  He holds an LL.B. from the University of Athens, Law School, and an LL.M. (International Business Law) from the University College London.
