Dr. Mina Gaga MD, PhD, FERS graduated from the Medical School of Athens University, trained in Respiratory Medicine and specialized further in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Imperial College and the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. She has served as Assistant Professor at Athens University and Director of the 7th Respiratory Medicine Dept. and Asthma Centre at Athens Chest Hospital 'Sotiria' as well as Medical Director of the Hospital. The Hospital is the biggest center for respiratory medicine in Greece with over 150.000 patient visits and admissions per year. Her appointments involved mainly clinical work and education of students and trainees but also administration. Her research focuses on asthma, particularly severe asthma but also quality patient care.

She has been actively involved as Principal Investigator in multiple clinical trials, has been active internationally in guideline development for severe asthma and lung cancer screening and has published extensively in these research areas. She, moreover, has an important international role, has served as Secretary General and later President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), Secretary of the European Board of Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP), advisor to the WHO and Executive Committee Member of GARD and on September 14th 2022 she was elected at the Standing Committee of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe (SCRC).

As of 31st of August 2021, she is serving as Alternate Minister of Health in Greece.
