Paolo Gallo is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Italgas since August 2016.

Italgas, listed on the Italian Stock Exchange MIB40, is the leading gas distributor in Italy, with a market share over 35% and the 3rd European gas distributor. It operates a network of over 80,000km with around 8,0m customers spanning the entire country. Founded in 1837, is listed on the Stock Exchange since 1851. More recently Italgas acquired – through an international tender – the Greek gas distribution network.

He is currently the Vice-Chairman of GD4S, the European Association of Gas Distributors, based in Brussel.

From August 2014 until August 2016, he was Chief Executive Officer of Grandi Stazioni, of which he oversaw the privatization.

Previously he worked at Acea, firstly as Chief Operating Officer and then as Chief Executive Officer. Listed on the Italian Stock Exchange since 1999, the company is one of the main Italian multiutility; it manages and develops networks and services in the water, energy and environmental sectors.

Paolo Gallo was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Edipower (generation company of 8.000 MW installed jointly owned by Edison, A2A, Alpiq and Iren) since April 2003 until January.

 

He started his career at Fiat Avio (aerospace division of Fiat Group) in 1988, holding several roles and responsibilities over 13 years. He eventually recollected all Fiat Group’s electricity generation activities in Fiat Energia – of which he was Chief Executive Officer until 2002. Through Fiat Energia, Fiat Group acquired in 2001 Montedison (jointly with EDF - Électricité de France).

Between 1992 and 1994, he was Dean of the MBA Programme at the School of Business Administration of the University of Turin where he lectured “Industrial Investments Economical-Financial evaluations” until 2002. From 2018 he is Associate Professor at the Luiss Business School (Rome) - Re-engineering Operational Processes (Master Digital Ecosystem) and Energy Management (Master Energy Industry).

He is also co-author of relevant publications in the sector; he recently published a book “Flight Log – How to guide digital transformation between innovation and sustainability”.

He received his degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic - University of Turin. He subsequently earned an MBA from Turin University.
