Dr. Melpomeni Peppa, is a Professor of Endocrinology in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is Chair of the Endocrine and Bone Metabolic Disorders Unit in 2nd Propaedeutic Dept of Internal Medicine in Attikon University Hospital and 3nd Dept of Internal Medicine in Sotiria Hospital, Athens, Greece. Dr Peppa graduated from Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki and had her training as a fellow in Internal Medicine in Polykliniki Hospital, and in Endocrinology in Evangelismos Hospital, Athens, Greece. Dr Peppa’s doctoral thesis focused on the investigation of factors associated with angiopathy in Type 1 diabetes mellitus, and took place in 1st Pediatric Dept, Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital, Athens. She had a 3 year postdoc fellowship in Division of  Experimental Diabetes and Aging, Department of Geriatrics, Mount Sinai  School of Medicine, NY, NY, USA, focused on the study of indexes of insulin resistance and oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus, obesity, renal failure, aging and their complications, through in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies. Dr Peppa, is responsible for the training of fellows in Endocrinology in the Endocrine Unit, is a member of the ERASMUS+/CIVIS, students exchange Program, joins the Editorial Board of peer review journals, participates as a teacher in Pre- and Postgraduate Programs and as a speaker in a large number of meetings, has written chapters in Pre and Postgraduate Medical books, and has 85 publications in peer review Journals with an H-index of 40 and 9000 citations.
