Mr. Charalampos (‘Harry’) Margaritis, Executive General Manager & Group Chief Operating Officer

As Group Chief Operating Officer of Piraeus Bank, Executive General Manager, and member of the Executive Committee, Harry is responsible for leading the bank's operational excellence across multiple functions, including IT, Data and Analytics, Digital Banking, Operations, and other auxiliary support functions.

Harry delivers exceptional customer experience channels that ensure that the bank’s technology and operations are innovative and automated and ensures that staff are focused on continuous improvements in customer service. He is directing and enabling people focused on a range of solutions including artificial intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity and more.

Harry has been recognized as a thought leader in Digital Banking, IT Strategy, Cloud, Enterprise Architecture, and Software Engineering. He has successfully delivered hundreds of large-scale projects across every banking domain.

In his previous capacity as the Group Chief Information and Digital Officer at Piraeus Bank, he led the IT organization including the Digital Banking division and was responsible for the overall Digital Transformation of the Bank.

During Harry’s previous tenure as a CIO in Commercial Bank of Dubai, he was instrumental in driving the digital transformation of the organization. He helped the bank double its customer base and achieve a two-fold sustainable increase in profit. As the Head of Group IT Architecture for the Eurobank banking group, he also managed a global group of architects and technology professionals and set the blueprint architecture for the international subsidiaries of the group in eight countries.

Harry is a published researcher in Information Security and hold an MSc in Communication Networks and a BSc in Physics. He continues driving innovation and digital transformation in the financial services industry, and exploring new opportunities to contribute expertise and leadership.
