Panagiota Vatikalou is First Instance Court Presiding Judge, member of the Greek Delegation to Greco of the Council of Europe and a member of the Greco Bureau since December 2019. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Ancient Greek Literature) and from the Law School of the same University. She entered the Judiciary in 2004 and in 2006 she was promoted to First Instance Court Judge. In September 2018 she was promoted to Presiding Judge of the Court of First Instance and served at the Athens Court of First Instance and since September 2020 she has been the Head of the Court of First Instance of Chania. In December 2017, she obtained a Master's degree with honors (9.70/10) from the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Crete. Her thesis was on the topic: "The International and European tools for fighting corruption: The Case of GRECO in the formation of the Greek internal policy”. She has participated as an evaluator for several member states on behalf of Greco in the peer review process for the 4th and 5th Evaluation Rounds, and has participated in Council of Europe and European Commission anti-corruption conferences and programmes.
