Corina Drousiotou completed her studies in law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a postgraduate degree in European and International Law at the University of Leicester, UK. Since 2005 she has been actively involved in Human Rights Law, particularly in the field of asylum. Between 2006 -2017 she worked as a legal advisor for the NGO Future Worlds Cente under a UNHCR funded project. In addition, during this period she also served as Head of the Humanitarian Affairs Unit of the NGO, coordinating all asylum-related programs. As of January 2018, she continues her work in the field of asylum working for the Cyprus Refugee Council as Program Coordinator and Senior Legal Officer under a UNHCR funded project. Drousiotou has extensive experience on asylum cases, with specialisation on cases of victims of torture and gender based violence. She also has experience on issues related to immigration detention and alternatives to detention and is the main contributor to the AIDA Report on Cyprus.
