Aristoteles Constantinides

Associate Professor of International Law and Human Rights

Aristoteles Constantinides is an Associate Professor of International Law and Human Rights at the Department of Law. He studied Law and received his PhD in International Law from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He has held visiting positions at the Universities of Amsterdam, Vienna, McGill and Kaunas, and he is a visiting Professor at the University Grenoble-Alpes and the School of International Relations (ILERI) in Paris. Since 2014, he was member of the team of lawyers advising the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Greek Cypriot negotiator in the talks for the settlement of the Cyprus problem and was present in the negotiations in Geneva, Mont Pelerin and Crans Montana in 2017 and in the informal talks in Geneva in 2021. He is actively engaged with governmental and non-governmental actors in various activities and projects promoting human rights in Cyprus. Among others, he has authored the draft National Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan of Cyprus. His research interests and publications include the law of the United Nations, statehood and recognition, the Cyprus problem, international law in domestic courts, and international human rights law. In 2017, he received the teaching excellence award.
