Nicholas Nicoli is Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Nicosia. His research interests focus on communication policy, platform strategies and the platformisation of media. He has conducted studies on EU policies regarding the digital economy sector, the BBC, CYBC, Facebook, TripAdvisor, and other similar entities. His current research investigates the relationship between democracy, platform power and its consequences for news media. Nicholas recently co-authored Digital democracy, social media and disinformation with Professor Petros Iosifidis, published in 2020 by Routledge.
He is heavily involved in the dissemination of science and ideas worth sharing through events such as TEDx and is or has been a science communicator on various European projects. He is also on the editorial board of The Journal of Media Business Studies and The Journal of Digital Media & Policy.
