Kornelia is currently completing her third year of BSc (Hons) in Political Science, with Minors in Mediterranean Studies at the University of Amsterdam, specialising in Public Policy and Governance.
Regarding her activity within the European Youth Parliament Cyprus;she joined for the first time in 2018 as a delegate, slowly fulfilled the various volunteering roles facilitating the fruition of EYP Cyprus events, and by 2020 was a Head-Organiser of the organisation’s annual national selection conference.
At the time, Kornelia also retained an active role in ventures and fora relating to children’s rights advocacy. She held positions such as President of the district parliamentary working group of the Cyprus Children’s Parliament, representing this body abroad in her capacity as member of the Eurochild Young Advisory Group. As typical for many young high-schoolers working their way into politics degrees, she engaged in activities that would expose her to the field, attending such conferences, or seminars locally and programmes abroad, as a participant, facilitator and speaker.
In 2021, Kornelia was elected for a two-year term, in the National Committee of EYP Cyprus, and has served as Head of Public Relations since;participating in designing the strategic orientation of the year, supporting the organisation’s mission of youth empowerment and capacity-building, representing the National Committee at events, heading project management and handling communications with the organisation's major partners and collaborators.
Since then the role has developed into the coordination of various discussion-based events, interaction with key stakeholders and policymakers in Cyprus, as well as the moderation of EYP Cyprus’ discussion panels under themes of collectivity, diversity, local communities, interconnectedness and active citizenship.
Kornelia’s role within the organisation and clear interest in public affairs, brings her to this position today, ready to speak on behalf of EYP Cyprus on the role of NGOs in enforcing accountability and demanding transparency in politics.
