Dr Fernando Mendez is a senior researcher at the University of Zurich and holds a PhD in Political Science from the European University Institute, Florence. His research is mostly interdisciplinary and blends various sub-fields of Political Science while also drawing on other fields such as Comparative Law and Computer Science. His ongoing research includes: cross-national comparative work on the constitutional design of direct democracy;political communication and the use of machine learning and computational text analysis to mine public opinion data;digital politics, with a focus on internet voting and e-participation. He has publilshed widely in all these areas.
