Ms. Skevi Koutra Koukouma is the General Secretary of the POGO Women's Movement. In addition, she is the Vice President of the World Democratic Federation of Women. Since 2010 she has been President of the Board of Directors of the Advisory Center for the Support of the Family, while since 2013 she has been Vice President of the Pan-Cypriot Coordinating Committee for Child Protection and Welfare. Since 1990 she has been a member of the Central Committee of AKEL, while in 2015-2021 she was a member of the Political Bureau. She was also Head of the Gender Equality Bureau and member of the International Relations Bureau of the Central Committee of AKEL. In 2008, she assumed the position of Member of Parliament for Famagusta district, while she was re-elected in the 2011 and 2016 Parliamentary Elections.
As a Member of Parliament, she was Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees - Detainees, Missing Persons and Patients and Deputy Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Labor and Social Insurance, member of the Parliamentary Committee on the Interior and the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities between Men and Women, the Parliamentary Plan Monitoring Committee Development and Control of Public Expenditures and the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee. She was also Chairwoman of the House Subcommittee on the Study of the Demographic Problem.
