George studied law in Athens and then went on to get a Masters degree (LL.M.) from the University of Southampton in Shipping Law. Following this he received an M.Sc from the International Relations Department of London School of Economics and then a Ph.D in law from the University of Southampton in Public International and Shipping law.
George is qualified in Cyprus (Member of the Cyprus Bar Association), Greece (Member of the Athens Bar Association) and England & Wales (Roll of Solicitors). He has worked for the City law firm of Holman, Fenwick & Willan before joining L. Papaphilippou & Co in Nicosia as a Partner for five years. In 2003 he started up Pamboridis LLC with offices in Nicosia and Athens.
He is the author of the book International Shipping Law: Legislation and Enforcement published by Kluwer Law International, the book Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Cyprus released in September 2012, and of numerous legal articles.
George was appointed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus in July 2015 as the Minister of Health until the completion of his term in February 2018 and during his tenure he introduced the Reform of the Health Sector including the NHS (GeSY). He now serves as a Commissioner on the Universal Health Care Commission of Chatham House.
