Charalambos Papatryfonos serves as a National Expert Advisor for the Deputy Ministry for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy in Cyprus, with a focus on green transition and innovation initiatives. With a background that spans over a decade, Charalambos has had the opportunity to engage in both academic and industrial environments. His roles have included work at the Research and Innovation Foundation and its Technology Transfer Office, as well as contributions to the pharmaceutical and environmental sectors. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry, which has been beneficial in his various roles.
In addition to his advisory role, Charalambos has been actively involved in a range of Innovation and European projects. His expertise extends to project evaluation, the development of sustainable advanced materials for energy applications, and the design and evaluation of competitive proposals focusing on novel materials. He has also worked on innovative surfaces, porous materials coatings, and interfaces.
His experience is not just limited to research;he has a knack for bridging academia with the market. He has been instrumental in the assessment and monitoring of collaborations between academia and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), aiding in the creation of spinoffs and bringing products to market. His work also encompasses high-performance composites, functional materials, and green energy applications, including energy storage solutions.
Charalambos has participated in various committees and initiatives, both at the EU and National levels. His current role is particularly aligned with global goals for sustainability and environmental conservation. His efforts in securing EU funding and in technology transfer underscore his commitment to fostering research and innovation, not just in Cyprus but across Europe as well.
