Liza Gashi is the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MFAD) in the Republic of Kosova. Ms. Gashi is an executive leader, innovator, and policy analyst with experience in migration and diasporas, public and digital diplomacy, civic engagement and advocacy. She is the founder and former executive director of GERMIN, a leading regional nonprofit specializing in engaging diaspora communities in advancing the development and democratization of their home countries. Ms. Gashi has been at the forefront of shaping the public discourse on diaspora matters and has advocated advancing the country’s policies, legislation, and institutional approaches to diaspora engagement for many years. She has also founded KosovoDiaspora.org, a crowdsourcing digital engagement and diplomacy platform that has promoted Kosova’s statehood internationally through Diaspora success stories. Her policy and research experience in international development, migration matters, and foreign policy span across international and local organizations. She is fluent in Albanian, English, and Spanish and has completed a Master of Public Administration at Arizona State University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Wartburg College in International Relations, Political Science, and Spanish Language and Literature. She is also a proud alumna of United World College in Costa Rica and the National University of Córdoba in Argentina.
